Chattahoochee River

The Chattahoochee River starts in the Blue Ridge. The rainfall and snowfall provide fresh water for the river. The river brings clean drinking water to Atlanta.
The river forms the border between Georgia and Atlanta. The people of Georgia have fun on the river by rafting, tubing, and fishing.

Give Me My Money

Because the area is so beautiful, many tourists visit the region. Tourists spend their money on hotels, food, and entertainment in the region. The area is well suited for hardwood forests, which are used to build houses. The soil and climate are excellent for vegetable farming and apple trees.

What is the climate like?

These mountains are important to the rest of the state because they are the first barrier to warm, moist air rising from the Gulf of Mexico. When that air makes contact with the high mountains, it cools. The precipitation (rain, hail, sleet, or snow) that results provides water for the entire state. Here, precipitation can exceed 80 inches per year.

What is there?

The Blue Ridge mountains are known for their beauty. The highest and largest group of mountains in Georgia is in this region.
Brasstown Bald, the highest peak in the state, is located in this region. The peak is almost 5,000 feet high. If you climb to the top of the mountain, you can catch a glimpse of three surrounding states: North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Location, Location, Location

The Blue Ridge Region is located in the northeastern part of Georgia. It is part of the Appalachian Highlands that stretch from New York to Alabama.
